getting ready

Initial consultations for new patients are one hour in length. Follow-up consultations are 30 minutes long. One hour follow-up consultations can be arranged with Dr Allen if required.  All consultations are by appointment only.

Consultation Fees

We are a private billing practice (no concession cards) and our fees are based on the “List of Medical Services and Fees” published by the Australian Medical Association. The fees vary depending on your appointment type and length. Please contact reception on 3719 5577 for our current fees.

We are unable to provide any credit and all accounts are payable on the day. Additional fees may apply for report writing and for correspondence with other parties.

Payments can be made by EFTPOS, credit card or cash. Any accounts that remain unpaid for 14 days will incur a fee and will be sent to a collection agency.

If you have any questions about our fees or billing structure, please contact our reception team on  07 3719 5577 who will be only too happy to answer your questions.

What To Bring

Please bring the following to your appointment:

•  Your Medicare card and Private Health Insurance information
•  A referral from your General Practitioner, family doctor or specialist
•  A list of all medications that you are currently taking
•  Details of any other treating doctors

We encourage new patients to come a few minutes earlier to fill out paperwork or you may download a  Patient Registration Form and fill it out to bring with you.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please telephone the office during business hours and allow at least 1 days’ notice so that we can offer your appointment time to patients on our waiting list.

Confirmed appointments, cancelled at late notice, will incur a $120 (+GST) cancellation fee.  This amount is payable before another appointment can be made.

We recognise that your time is valuable, and we make every effort to run on time. Occasionally emergencies or patients require a little more time, and these cause scheduling delays beyond our control. We apologise if we keep you waiting.

Late Arrivals

Please be aware that Dr Allen has a very tight schedule and arriving late for your appointment can inconvenience subsequent patients. Should you arrive very late for your appointment, it may need to be rescheduled as Dr Allen would not be able to give you the time that you need.

We can submit your claim directly to Medicare using our online claiming facility. If you are registered with Medicare and have recorded your bank details with them, your Medicare rebate can be directly deposited in to your nominated bank account if requested. This facility is subject to availability as sometimes the Medicare systems are down.

Medicare Australia rebates approximately 45% of the fee for our services (Based on 85% of the scheduled fee). Once you reach the Medicare safety net threshold you may be eligible for additional Medicare benefits for the remainder of the calendar year. To find out more about the safety net click here

From July 1, 2016 Medicare will no longer issue refund cheques. Your refund will only be available to be deposited into your nominated bank account. If you have not notified Medicare of your nominated bank account number, you will not receive your refund.

Prescription Fee

If you have a pre-arrangement with our Doctor, phoned prescription requests incur a $16.00 administration fee payable at the time of request. This is payable over the phone via credit card. We can fax and post this directly to your pharmacy if you prefer. Please have your pharmacy details available for our staff.
